No prell hasn't stripped that good in ALONG time Back in the 80's we used the OLD prell to strip out semi perm hair dye....then we switched to DAWN dish wash soap because basically that can stip concrete(LOL) If your hair has permanant Black dye and you've added bleach for the red....you are SOL. For the laymen: BLEACH IS NOT PEROXIDE.....peroxide is what you add to the bleach or haircolor to activate it. BLEACH is FOREVER!
Until its cut off. No matter how many times you color your hair that bleach will eventually "peak thru" now....if this is just black with red hair dye...............you can try good old fashioned NEUTOGENA shampoo, the one in the square clear bottle. Put some in your hand and add a healping scoop of baking soda lather it into your hair and bag it for about an hour....that might help to fade it.
However normally black will lighten to some God awful Grey color....so its a toughie.... If you dislike your color right way..like within the first 48 hours...a tube of hot oil is haircolors worse nightmare.....that really fades it...but it has to be put on right away. There are professinal strippers but I do not recommend them unless your hair is in PERFECT shape and its done by someone who knows what they are doing: RE: a professinal colorist....not a hair dresser.....a colorist....there is a difference.
Yes It's interesting--I never knew this before, but apparently Prell shampoo does fade some dark hair dye and reddish streaks. From the information I found on Yahoo Answers, Dawn Dish soap works a little better, though. Sources: answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200... .
