Does the death card in Tarot readings really mean someone will die?

Both seicheprey and Kelly Renee are correct. The death card makes a wonderfully dramatic impact in Hollywood movies to thrill and spook, however it is merely a card of major transformation. It denotes a death to a way of life or thinking that is no longer valid for that person.

Like Kelly Renee, I see this as a positive thing. It frees the person to grow and find a path that is more suitable to the amazing person they are becoming.

No - this is the most widely misunderstood and misinterpreted card in a Tarot deck. I've been a Tarot reader for 20 years and have actually come to love and embrace this card for it's beauty and it true meaning.

The death card in Tarot is a card of transformation and great change which often comes through a "death" or "ending". It comes up around things like job loss, divorce etc. And means a period of rebirth after a period of struggle.

When a caterpillar becomes a butterfly it must struggle to free itself from the coccoon. This struggle is difficult but it is what builds the strength in the newly formed butterfly's wings - without that "death" and that struggle - the butterfly would die because it couldn't fly.

So when the death card comes up I tell my clients - "you're growing wings" ;).

It tells you to embrace a new cycle of your life and to let go of that which no longer serves you so that you can fully embrace new opportunities.

Usually, from what I've read, the Death card simply means that the person who is having the reading done will have a major life change.

I interpret Death as a card of transformation -- the death of old ways of doing something or the end of an era. I always try to put a positive spin on it in readings. Yes, it's a profound change, but one that opens the door to a new, much-needed beginning.

In all my reading and research, the death card is translated as the termination of one cycle in order to begin another. This could be a job, a relationship, a way of life, etc. , depending on the surrounding cards.

Death card symbolizes the end of one cycle and beginning of another. It's not necessary transformation. It's like seasons.

I thought the death card was a card for new beginnings.. I do remember shitting myself when it came up in my first reading though.. but the woman told me its not that im going to die.. good enough! Lol.

No! I have been told that it just means something serious...maybe bad will happen, but does not mean literally there will be a death...don't worry! :0.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
