Does the Texas Medical Board Violate the Establishment Clause?

It’s well known that the Texas Medical Board loves sex, drugs, and rock and roll. That is, they love to throw the book at physicians with bad habits like substance abuse whether or not they have or could have impacted patient care. The board disciplines docs for substance abuse very similar to how the criminal justice system hands out sentences complete with a “parole officer” and drug testing (license suspension would be analogous to jail time).

And like the criminal justice system, the TMB frequently orders physicians to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings or a “substantially similar alternative program. € The problem with this is that 12 step programs like AA have enough religious elements to violate the establishment clause of the constitution which prohibits official government establishment (and enforcement) of religion. Several cases (Griffin v.

Coughlin and Inouye vs. Kemna) have found court ordered AA meetings to be unconstitutional. Oops . .

Not only is there a lack of data ...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
