The difference is that Israel used to be shared between Jews, Palestinians and a bit of British guards (I don't go back to history long ago I think that it's irrelevant, I'm not taking ancient times into consideration) After WWII it was fairly suggested to be divided. The Jews already living there, and others who wished to join that little shelter which is the only place that unites the Jews and allows them to live safely in (proven by the holocaust to be so). Jews had no intention of taking over more land as had at the end happened, however the Palestinians were not pleased with the land offered for them and went out in war.
Israel, the Jewish land and nation -returned war! - it did not conquer a land of which it had nothing to do with what so ever and happened to find by chance while trying to get across the world. What is not going on between Palestinians and Israel is a war.
What went back then between the Native Americans and the new European comers was no war but rather conquering of other's land. Also, speaking numbers, much less deaths were caused by Israel than native Americans who were murdered. They also did not shoot them just to kill them to take over their land, but rather to try and stop Hamas activists hiding under civilian buildings in order to prevent it's people from dying.
EDIT: OURScott I didn't ask you to give me a right to hate. I don't hate, I was born in Israel, I live in Israel, I am Israeli, I love Israel and am a true strong Zionist. I will fight in the Israeli army very soon as well.
I protect my country, my morals, my family and my home. What do you do? Sit on your *** and tell me you have the right to hate?
Good for you then. EDIT 2: so what exactly are you doing to work towards what you believe in except for posting your opinion on the internet which is of absolutely no use? I didn't say it was moral because I was born into it.
It is moral because it's moral, and I was also born into it, proudly so. If you talk about sadness you might want to look at the history of my family. A lot of which lived for very few years and was destroyed in death camps by the worst abuse ever done in history.
If you talk about crime, about immoral, that was the top of the top. Such brutality, and unlike in the united states whether that's with the native Americans or with the Africans which was done out of stupidity, not recognizing the other race as human and also the wish for expanding in land ownership. The holocaust was pure racism and hate supported by millions.
I'm saddened to be Jewish, and yet I'm encouraged by being Israeli. I know that this land as long as I and other moral people like me stand strong to protect it and help it exist, I know that I can be safe, as well as other Jews around the earth even ones not living in Israel, as they all get the support and protection of Israel and can move here at any time. The difference between the two cases you presented is that they are not at all alike, the brutality the Europeans showed towards your people is so much more than the brutality Israel ever showed, and was not done as part of a war but rather a simple conquer.
Also, think about this logically for a second, Israel is insanely strong, if what it wanted is to get more of the Palestinian land, why wouldn't it have already done so? I can assure you that technically, it can.
Agree. Things like this have happened throughout history. The muslims also dominated an empire that included Spain, while the Spanish perpetrated a similar conquest in Central/South America... History is somewhat biased depending on the historian.
Though I am not a big supporter of Palestine (I tend to be turned off by terrorist groups being given control of government by democratic election) I find the "let's restore Israel to it's biblical boundaries" crowd to be equally unsavory. So wut do? There is no clear answer to that.
I don't think we should allow the collective middle east to rise up against Israel and instigate a new genocide, but I would also not say they are entirely "in the right" either. Due to islam's "World Domination" desires and history of terrorism, I tend to support Israel, but not for religious reasons. Or because they are "right."
Does anyone remember that we lent both equipment and training to Afgan "freedom fighters" in their war with the Soviet Union? Soon after the ruskies took their ball and went home, they turned on us. Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
