Your author score is partially derived from your Hub scores, and each Hub already carries a backlink to your profile, so manually adding more isn't going to have any more of an effect.
Also, hub scores only have meaning inside of HubPages, while PageRank is a metric that is entirely calculated by Google.
Unfortunately it seems that none of you understood my question so I'll explain it a bit more clearly. I understand pagerank and hubscore are separate things. I wasn't talking about linking my hubs to my profile manually, or the other way round, as there is already a link there, I was just talking about my profile pagerank influencing the hubs.
My hubscore profile page contains links to my hubs. If I drop backlinks to my profile page on external websites, which boost the pagerank of my profile, will that trickle down to the hubs that are linked from my profile, boosting them as well?
I know google crawls the profile pages, but if the links from the profile page to your individual hubs are either not visible to google or are nofollow links, then profile pagerank is utterly irrelevant.
As hubpages is called hubpages, the thing that makes sense to me is that your profile page is your central hub, with all your articles linked from that, so it would make sense that if your profile page is boosted, that would have an effect on each article. But maybe hubpages doesn't work like that.
I need to learn more about the subject of back linking, but I do know I've been doing such a thing ever since I ran into web design tools on the web. Link placement to me doesn't have anything to do with page ranking or scoring until people decide to click on it many times, and it needs to be a large number of clicks to mean anything for that matter.
Ratings and rankings are primarily an algorithm projected from analytic tools, so pretty much the numbers are derived from activity to and from locations on the web such as a back link or a forward link or what have you. Traffic is the only way for this calculative measure to take place, so just placing links into profiles or on other web locations do nothing unless people activate their usage, which requires your input of sharing such info, mostly.
Of course it is important if you have a good page rank it indicates that your profile is visited by many viewers daily... and your profile contains good contents and hubs that every visitor also want to visit your profile or your hubs. No it doesn't mean it is invisible to google, google crawls every page in the internet. If your hub is new it may take little time to be crawled and I have checked your profile page, your page has been crawled on 6th december when you had only one hub published right?
This is what it shows on 6th of december according to google crawler. And there you go you have a page rank :) your page rank shows 0 now, means your one step ahead now, 0 is the first page rank any page are ranked initially.
I think it does in some way honestly. However, I actually place links of my own website and blogs on my profile page and not my hubs :p.
I think it has some of an impact. But the ranking mainly relates to hubpages. Only the links that you create outside of hubpages really helps.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
