You need to train your dog. Training a dog to "Wait" at an open doorway and not pass through it is a basic thing that all owners need to teach their dogs. She needs to focus on you and what you are doing, not dashing out the door and running away.
You need to be able to come and go in and out of your house and not worry about your dog getting away every time you open the door. How much walking time around the neighborhood does this dog get? If she doesn't get to go out and see the world around her, she will want to run out to do just that.
It sounds like she just needs some basic training, learn to wait and come on command, and a lot more time spent leash walking with you and spending time outdoors. Do your training sessions with the doors in your home after you come back from a long walk. The dog will be glad to be home, and tired, not so apt to want to run off.
You should be able to get her to focus on you and work on her door manners. Dogs learn by repetition and association, so you may have to repeat the lesson many times before it sinks in. If you have children or others in the home that are irresponsible with the door, and the dog is getting out because of them - then invest in a good baby gate and place it so it closes off your entrance way.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
