This isn't necessarily wrong, it's just different than what I'm used to. Palm might look into adding an option to disconnect the data connection if there's a certain period of inactivity.

But then, I only check my e-mail every few hours; for people who need more constant data access, such an option might be an annoyance. So there you go. I have to say I love my Palm Treo 680.

For me, it's a solid, dependable little device that evokes the memory of other great Palm devices: the III, the V, the Tungsten C. It's been rock-solid, it has done everything I've asked it to so far, and it's just an all-around great companion. You can even fit it in your pocket as long as your jeans aren't too tight.

:-) I can't wait to take it to Europe with me; with its SD card slot it should be great for photoblogging. It's significantly cheaper than the Palm's 7xx series and, if you use a GSM carrier in the US, you probably didn't have 3G service anyway. Check out the 680 if you want a dependable, easy-to-use smartphone, especially if your data needs don't require 3G speeds.

You need an unlocked smartphone but it depends on the conditions you signed when you bought the phone.
