You shouldn't check in the whole workspace. You should only check in the projects without the meta data and get the workspace generated. You could generate the project configuration with tools like maven and Maven to Eclipse .

So you could avoid problems with differnent paths, etc.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
