As a Christian I value this countries freedom of religion for all religions. People have the right to make the choices that they want without persecution (sadly that's not always the case in practice). However, there is a difference between not hindering ones choices and actively supporting them.

For example, I would not vote for laws to be put in place that allowed men to beat their wives under religious justifications. I think we can all agree that this is a wrong practice. Likewise, I cannot in good conscience vote for a law that supports homosexuality.

I respect these peoples right to choose, I will still respect them as human beings (they do after all bear the image, as we all do, of my God and are therefore deserving of respect if for no other reason), even love them as my faith calls me to do. However, I am incapable of supporting their sin. Given the option, I would even vote for a ban on homosexuality all together (not that that opportunity will ever arise), not because I hate homosexuals but to the contrary I love them as human beings and know that their sin is destroying them.

So not only can I not support their sin but I am also unwilling to support their self destruction... neither would I support someone in a habit of drugs or other self destructive behavior. The destruction I speak of may manifest itself physically but I refer more to spiritual destruction. They are destroying their future with God.

As someone who came to faith in my early 20s I can tell you that I regret deeply the time I did not spend with God before I was a true Christian, even more so do I regret my sin during that time. So it is with compassion and even a degree of understanding that I make my decision not to support homosexuality. In fact I will do what I can to oppose it, to stand against it but not in anger or malice but rather in love and in hope that homosexuals will see the truth and turn to God.

Not that homosexuality is particularly special mind you, I could say the same about all manner of sin, I only focus on homosexuality because it is the example that you used. 1. Why do dietitians and nutritionists try to force their healthy eating habits onto other people?

Yes, of course God gave us free will, but just because we have free will doesn't mean we can do whatever we want, even in society. We have the free will to choose whether or not we commit a murder, for example. The presence of free will is not God condoning sin, it's God giving us a choice to do the right thing... or not.

2. Yes, of course they do but that doesn't mean I'm going to vote for a law that supports what from my perspective is sin. They can get married according to their religion but that doesn't mean the government has to recognize it and that doesn't mean I have to support it.

I too have the freedom to choose. 3. It's not about making vows to God, it's about a homosexual union being inherently sinful.

In an atheistic marriage or one of another religion it is the union of a man and a woman. This in inherently good and therefore not sin. What they believe (or don't believe) is another issue largely independent of their marriage.

4. But we as Christians have a responsibility to our government. Because we have the freedom to vote we have a certain level of stewardship over this country and it is our obligation to vote in the best interest of this country.

Understand that for Christians this issue runs much deeper that simply whether or not gays should be allowed to marry. There were many nations destroyed, not just because people in them sinned, but because sin was publicly accepted and even encouraged. It wasn't necessarily the fact that homosexuality was prevalent in Sodom and Gomorrah that led to their destruction, it was the fact that it (among other sins) was publicly condoned.

Anglican leaders from around the world have clearly stated their opposition to the "victimisation or diminishment" of gays and lesbians, saying demonising and persecuting them was "totally against Christian charity and basic principles of pastoral care". "We say that no one should have to live in fear because of the bigotry of others." The mormons poured millions into forcing through prop 8 in CA: to ban gay marriage.

In August 2010 the court held that to be unconstitutional. On 15 June 2011 the San Francisco court upheld that decision because it violates the constitutional rights of citizens. On 7 February 2012 the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals struck the California law again finding that the California state constitution banning same-sex marriage violated principles of due process and equal protection under the law.

The court found that the ban violates equality laws to target a minority group and withdraw a right that it possessed, without a legitimate reason for doing so. Proposition 8 serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California. The constitution simply does not allow for laws of this sort.

It is now awaiting the Supreme Court verdict which is expected to uphold the early court decision. If that happens then gay marriage will become legal everywhere and that will be marriage and not civil partnership! In the UK The intolerance, bigotry and homophobia from Christians resulted in it being classed as a hate crime with severe sentences.

It has led to the government framing legislation which if enacted will replace "Civil Partnership" with full marriage. The loving god works in mysterious ways.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
