I happen to be playing them both. Both of them have a lot of room for improvement, although since both are "beta" they are both being worked on. I like the graphics better in Farmville, and I like the mechanics a bit better.
The timing of the crops gives you a bit more room for strategy. On the other hand, Farm town has an interesting social aspect, where you are rewarded for hiring people to harvest and can meet and chat in a lounge area. But the lounge, though decorated as a bar/saloon, does not serve beer!
The most obnoxious thing about Farmville, like other games by the same company, is that they try to force you to get your friends to play. I don't mind inviting my friends to play games; but, I resent having my game position crippled if my friends happen not to want to join. I am stuck with the smallest size farm.In some of their games they are really trying to force you to let strangers be your facebook friends, unless you genuinely have 500+ friends.
Farm town does this too, but to a lesser extent. Mainly, I can only plow two squares at a time instead of four, and I can't hire people to plow. That's annoying, but not crippling.
I have tried both applications, and I highly prefer FarmTown over FarmVille. I will admit, Farmville does have better graphics that FarmTown, but when it comes down to it thats about it. I enjoy gameplay more, and think that FarmTown also has better ingame options and stuff to buy than Farmville. As far as friends go, you can get along with NO friends if you really want to.
Farmville, I'm not so sure about. Probably the worst part about FarmVille is that you have to pay real money to purchase some things. Don't get me wrong, Farmtown is far from perfect.
It glitches more than any other Facebook application I know. But I would totally have to disagree with "Albanian's" total last paragraph. He probably has his or her settings wrong and/or his fields set up wrong.
And you can hire people to plow for you, but you need ten friends. Good Luck Farming..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
