Fess Parker - the man who played Davy Crockett in the 1954 Disney version and who made a coonskin cap a "must have" piece of apparel has died in California at the age of 85. If you didn't live through the Crockett craze, you really missed something.....hard to believe but Crockett was actually bigger than the Beatles were some 10 years later. There were Crockett items galore and if you didn't have something - what was wrong with you?
So, what did you have? For that matter, do you still have it? Believe it or not, I've still got my Davy Crockett bubblegum cards - somewhere!
If you're a Baby Boomer, how did the Crockett craze affect you? Asked by OldppieHatesNewAV 21 months ago Similar questions: Fellow Boomers Make Sad Entertainment > Television.

I didn't know he had passed away until I read this. I have one of the Disney movies of Fess Parker as Davy Crocket. I just barely remember Fess Parker as Daniel Boone.
Last year for Christmas we got my husband (he's older then I am) the complete series of Daniel Boone. But yes, this does make me sad....unfortunately, I am noticing that all the GREAT actors are passing away and these new ones don't have that? That they had!
Just the other night my husband made the comment (it was after we watched one of the Daniel Boone episodes) that they took the westerns off tv because they were to violent and look what we have now! .
Fess Parker We lost a part of our past in losing him... It makes me think of my mortality.

2 Yes, I remember all the nostalgia. I used to watch the "Davey Crockett" series back in the middle 50's on the Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday night at seven pm.

3 I do feel sad, Old I have special warm memories of Fess Parker. From his days as Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone. He was one of my all-time favorite actors during my younger years.
He was also one of the good guys.At least there never seemed to be a bit of scandal surrounding him throughout the years. I'm even admitting that when I was a little kid I had a coonskin cap, just like Davy Crockett! I don't know what happened to my coonskin cap.
Knowing how my mother hated clutter, she probably threw it out after I stopped wearing that 'rat' on my head. Here's a little bit of trivia:But it was Crockett, deemed in the theme song "king of the wild frontier," that became a phenomenon for Parker. At one point, 5,000 coonskin caps were sold per day, raising the price of the fur from 25 cents a pound to $8.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
