I think that Will Farrell was most funny on SNL. He had a variety of roles, and not every one of them was over the top silly. Now it seems like he's always the same character, and doesn't posses the charisma that he once had.To answer your question I think that Jim Carey at one point was not as funny as Will, but now Will has settled and Jim is still searching.

When comparing there primes, I think that Jim makes me laugh. This is coming from someone who was in grade school when Dumb and Dumber premiered. I'm 22 now... man how time flies.

It's a toss up... But I think I would pick Will Ferrell. To me, Jim Carey is all sight gags and toilet humor; which while funny, it often seems like he is caught up in his own caricature. He seems more like a character actor than Ferrel is, with so much of his humor tied up in how he can contort his face and make strange expressions.

Ferrell seems more like an all around actor. I loved him on Saturday Night as the cheerleader and other roles, and have enjoyed all his movies. Believe it or not, but he does seem like a step up in acting ability from Jim Carey.

They both get a somewhat different audience, I think, so it would be hard to directly compare and contrast them. Jim Carey is more popular with the younger kids, while Ferrell is a bit more popular with adults. I do like them both, and think that they are both talented actors!

Jim Carey for sure. Jim Carey is a great baby-sitter. When I put a Jim Carey movie in for my grandchildren, they stayed glued to their seats, even if they've seen the movie a dozen times already.

He just seems mor popular with kids. That goes in my favoe when the grandchildren are staying the night. Keeps them occupied for the duration of the movie at least.

Will Ferrell Simply because I personally find Jim Carey doing the same routine -- he is funny with his face and how he moves his body into weird positions. Ferrel is funny on many different levels -- whether it be how he moves or simply a look that he gives. S performance on SNL’s "Don’t Fear the Reaper" was hillarious!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
