A real, unambiguous, unmistakable miracle. The Bible is full of the kind of miracles that never seem to happen anymore. Make someone walk on water, turn water into wine, turn a walking stick into a snake, stop the earth's rotation, make pi equal 3, make a mountain so high that you can see every country in the world from its peak... and do it under controlled conditions so we can be sure it's not a hoax.
If God is truly omnipotent, unbound by any natural laws, then it should be a piece of cake for him to do a few tricks to demonstrate that the laws of physics and logic don't apply to him, sign his name at the end, and add a P.S. to let us know which church got his teachings right.
Unequivocal proof - which kind of contradict the idea of "belief" I'm much more of a hopeful agnostic. I really hope God exists. I really hope there is a place where all suffering is forgotten and some of the miserable souls of this world would find peace and happiness in some better existence.
I really hope my dad who passed away still exists somewhere and still watches over me... But I think it's after all a questions of personality. Some people need to believe in a higher power that watchers over them and give everything a sense of purpose. I don't.
I'm not the "believer" type. I prefer the "scientific" way even though I'm very skeptic about some of what science has to offer. When I say I prefer the scientific way, what I really mean is that I need concrete and real answers as science attempts to offer.
I need answers to questions such as why do we exists? What is our purpose here? Why is there suffering in this world?
Why can't we always be happy? Why do I have so many needs? Why does death exists at all?
Why is the world designed in such a way that one creature's life always depends on some other creature death? No religion could really answers these question to me in a way that satisfies me. If God exists and he is all powerful, then the usual answer that we are incapable of understanding God and are therefore left with believing in him only does make sense.
There is no way to see and understand what such a powerful planner had in mind. I can say it makes sense - but this is really an answer that does not satisfy me in no way. I'm of the type that need to understand it rather then need to believe in it.
And here is the real catch - religion is based upon belief. If God wanted to prove its existence he could do so and we would know he exists - there would be no reason to believe, just to know of his existence. But this is the point of of religion - the need for that leap of faith.
I don't really need faith - I need to know. I need to understand. This is just how I am.
Maybe it's too much pride. Me - the smallest of all creatures tries to understand the working of the whole universe and all possible worlds. But I think it's just the desire - which we all have - the desire to understand.
I don't really believe in anything of the supernatural kind. Not in ghosts, not in haunted houses, not in the life after and not even in God. I don't reject it.
I have no real way to prove it right or wrong, so how can I write it off - or how can I simply believe in it? So as to your question, I would need God to either reveal himself in a way I cannot explain in any other way - and a burning bush that keeps burning can be explained in several ways as far as I'm concerned. Or, I would somehow completely understand the grand scheme of all things.
Such as, why was it needed to design the lion in a way that to survive it would have to hunt and hurt the zebra; and this understanding would somehow explains without a doubt the existence of God.
If he's really there he could just show up and explain all the loonies who claim to work for him. If he can "see the fall of the sparrow" he can drop me a postcard..
WWJD As soon as every self-professed Christian on this planet chooses to stop using their religion as a tool of fallible men for the purpose of social competition, control and domination. As soon as every self-professed Christian stops claiming to bear the truth, eschews victimhood and settles on one Christian doctrine. As soon as every self-professed Christian divests themselves of their wealth, and travels their lands living a moral life and teaching the same, primarily by example.
They do not have to do this instantaneously. I would give them 5 years to pull it off. I think that is reasonable considering they have had thousands to kill each other over doctrine and subjugate and kill others in the name of God..
He would have to actually exist; there would need to be actual, verifiable proof that there was a god hint. A book written be man is not proof.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
