You can do both ways ... getting a handyman to do work around your home and you as the assistant is good .... you can learn from him and probably save a few bucks helping ... you can oversee that corners are not cut and work is done in a proper manner and supplies are not wasted .... a good place to find a helper is at the commercial desk in Lowe's or at the HoDepot. Just be sure that you pay him well --- we all have to eat & etc.
I have been a handyman and worked both ways and made it work out. When I hired a man to do my roof it was with the knowledge that we would work together on the project and it worked out very well. If I am doing something that takes a specific skill grade I would rather do it myself so I don't have to repair or otherwise clean up the other's work.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
