It was supposed to be a party, gala dinner, that turned into a sermon worthy of an imam. Gaddafi on a visit to Rome for FAO summit, called 200 Italian girls under 35, tall, attractive and well dressed, no miniskirts to give them a lesson on the superiority of Islam and the role of women in the arab world. He gave then 50 euros, a copy of the Coran and one of his "green book.
" He said that women are used as furniture, invited them to convert and go to Mecca and lastly he denied the Crucifixion, they crucufied someone who looked like Jesus.
That's pretty old news. Still, it does seem he is getting more religious in his old age. It happens to many people.
That worked out to about $90, not bad for a couple of hours listening. Plus, it's something to gossip about for a week and a day. Someone should return the favor though and do the reverse in Libya.
During the last UN General Assembly in New York. It was part of his entourage. Col.
Gadaffi asking women to convert to Islam isn't new. When 'First Lady Imelda Marcos' was sent by Pres. Ferdinand Marcos as an 'Philippine Ambassador' that successfully negotiated the "1976 Tripoli Agreement.
" Imelda mentioned in her own words (in a documentary self-titled "IMELDA") that Gadaffi asked her to convert to Islam. According to Imelda he was impressed by her charm, wit and beauty. Being a woman she appeared non-threathening and was able to negotiate a Peace Agreement between the "Republic of the Philippines" and the "Moro National Liberation Front" that granted Autonomy on some parts of Mindanao.
I don't know the accuracy of Imelda's statements. She lives in her own bubble you know. You'll have to see the DVD documentary to hear what Imelda actually said.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
