Getting involved in wildlife conservation?

Come to the U.S.A. Where we have massive National Forests and you might get to work in the Fisheries and Wildlife or Forest Service without a degree. Typically, you'd want to get at least a Bachelor's degree in Biology or some related subject to ease getting a job. It also helps to learn some GIS, since collecting data usually involves analysis of some kind.

Best advice is to leave the UK, we've got forests bigger than the UK.

Ya I am not too sure how the educational system works in the UK and what exactly is required of you in order to get to be involved in wildlife conservation, but all I know is it sounds like you really enjoy this and even though you don't like being in a classroom, believe me fight through it so you can get and do what you love doing. Other than that I would agree with the first responder, you don't necessarily need to go to America, but somewhere else with a more in depth variety of wildlife, maybe Australia even.

Sorry, but you will DEFINITELY need a degree. Even people with these degrees cannot always find work..so without one it would be virtually impossible to find a job that PAYS to do this as a career. Sure, you can volunteer all you want with no degree, but no one will hire you without it.

If you are really passionate about this line of work..GO TO SCHOOL. Hell, no one likes school, but if you want a degree, that is the price everyone has to pay. If this career is THAT important to you..you will get through the schooling somehow.

Many of the classes for this career are ones will you will spend lots of time outdoors learning protocols, etc. I had many classes that involved weekend campouts to do actually outdoor research. There were also a few week long "field courses" that had us camping out the whole time doing hands on research. Sure, you will end up taking some lab courses..but you will get to do lots of hands on work as well.

I also suggest volunteering and internships to get even more hands on experience.

When you buy a Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation license plate, you show your proud support for Missouri's fish, forestry and wildlife programs. Learn how to apply for a conservation license plate. Leave a legacy of conservation.

Make a gift to nature. This page tells you how to support conservation and memorialize your loved ones with a gift to MDC. “If all my hours of volunteering prevent one hunting accident, then it’s worth it.

Plus, I have a group of instructors that work with me and together we make it happen.".

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
