Given is a fact: humanity lives in a global village. Is there an alternative for the 'economy of scale' we live in now?

1 Well, robotics and modern machine shop production methods have made it possible to have low number runs of a product at lower cost. Perhaps not as low, but our best manufacturers the USA are using this method of production and can change from one product to another very quickly. What do you want?

2 It may be possible to have nearly custom products - look at what Dell can do for a computer.

3 Maybe I want a global village where the costs of making a product are not directly related to the price of it on the market...and WHAT market WHERE. We in the West know that we live in a global village. And the Internet has made comparison of prices much easier for us.

But Pedro y Maria in Peru - the names are only examples - don't know what a global village is and probably have never heard of Internet. Anyhow, thanks to Lidl (a kind of European WallMart) we enjoyed asparagus from Peru for some months. They are delicious, compared with the Spanish ones that are on offer now for a higher price and a much lower quality.

Last week indeed, Dell surprised me. In one of the most popular TV-guides in Spain Dell had an inlay with products and low prices for all their products. The name of the magazine is SUPERTELE.

I realised that the exchange of the $$$ versus the €€€ has also its advantages for American business people! Anyhow, I had just bought my new PC for a good price and write these first thoughts to you on it. Have a nice weekend!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
