Graduate Program vs. 2nd Bachelors Degree I graduated in May with a BS in Construction Engineering Technology, I expected to want to take over or help my father's construction company originally with this degree and I enjoyed learning some things but I know that it is not what I want to do. I did internships year round for my county's engineer and for SSOE and stood out from good performance, but I did not enjoy. I have always been attracted to computers and new technology.
I loved hooking up my entertainment system and finding the best technology and putting everything together to maximize efficiency with the way everything runs. So I do not want to be stuck with just computers and I don't want to waste my other degree which allows me to take the FE. I found an IT program at my school that had the Engineering school team up with the Business school but I keep being told to go after the Masters instead.
I can't find an IT masters program at my school and my GPA ended up being around a 2.7 so I am nervous about being accepted Asked by diendanyoi54 24 months ago Similar questions: Graduate Program 2nd Bachelors Degree Education & Reference > Colleges & Universities.

There we go again......... You went to school probably on your father's funds and now you decided that is not what you want to do. I suggest you put your desires of total happines on the back burner for awhile and work with your father to get the experience and know well how to manage the family business in case they need you to step in. The grass is greener on the other side of the fence and having to join the workforce makes you wish that you can be a perpetual student. It does get old.
Don't stop everything just to go in search of another degree/career. Give this one a chance before you give up. You might be disappointed again.
My brother in South America is a Civil Engineer graduating in 1966 and my father paid a fortune for him to be able to get specialized in Steel Structures at that time. They had to bring a professor from the USA to teach a class of 5 students. Brother was not happy.
He got a Master in engineering and went to teach at the university. Not happy yet. Eventually he formed a partnership with a colleague and they handle steel structures and communication towers all over Latin America. s partner does all the technical work and my brother after getting a Master in Business Administration found out he loves to get the contracts and handle all the Marketing.
He still does the technical presentations. Reality check: when you are brand new and without experience you will not enjoy your profession as you wish you would. It takes time to build up knowledge and confidence. You are so lucky your father can mentor you.
Appreciate it and take the opportunity..
1 Well, if you aren't accepted, you aren't. You can still do the second bachelor's. But I would go for the graduate degree, more economically valuable.

2 If you can get into the Graduate program - most schools look at your GPA in your major and not overall since they know that there's a lot of bs coursework people have to take - go for your Master's. If not, then go for the 2nd Bachelor's and really apply yourself and work your buns off. The Master's will prove to be more valuable in the long run.

3 I have been told that from many people but another reason why I'm afraid of taking that jump is because I feel like I would not gain the technological knowledge through the four previous years of getting the bachelors. I'm sure grad school would be harder regardless, but what if I miss out on important education. If graduate school is still the right decision to make, then what about my school not having an IT Masters program?
Should I just go into Computer Engineering? .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
