Grrrrr.I'm having trouble attaching a file to an e mail?

Grrrrr. I'm having trouble attaching a file to an e mail. Here's the problem and what I'm doing.

I'm trying to send a copy of a CD that I recorded years ago. It's in "My Music" in my files. I go to that file, right click on the file, select send to e mail recipient.

That takes me to a box that asks me select a file,I paste that path into the box and select attach, continue composing message. This gives me an e mail to send, but apparently is only copying the path, not my CD. I'm using Windows XP,IE7 to access Yahoo!Mail.

What the heck am I doing wrong?! BTW;Those of you that know about my virus problems, they're gone,so it's not that. Asked by BrainBuilder_is_gone 56 months ago Similar questions: Grrrrr trouble attaching file mail Computers > Hardware > Desktops & Laptops.

Can you browse for the file I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, but I'm going to suggest two things. First, rather than pasting in the path to the file, why don't you go straight to Yahoo! Mail, start composing a message, and browse from there for the attachment.

I don't have Yahoo! Mail anymore because it crashes my browser so I can't recreate the problem here, but I'm sure I've had a similar problem in the past that was solved by browsing to the file and selecting "Attach" and then hitting OK or some step like that. Second, what size is the CD?

Yahoo! Mail has a maximum attachment size limit of 10-megabytes. I'm guessing this is causing some of your troubles.By the way, here's their attachment how-to:You can add attachments at any time while you’re composing an email.

Here’s how to do it: 1. Click Attach Files—it’s below Subject:. 2.In the window that opens, click Browse to find and select the file or photo you want.

3. When you've got it, click it, then click Open.4. Click Attach Files again to inititate the upload of the file.5.

Once the upload is completed, click the Continue to Message button.6. Repeat these steps to attach more files. Nice work.

Look at you—adding attachments! You can send many types of files as attachments, including word processor or spreadsheet documents, audio files, image files (.bmp, .jpg. , .

Gif, etc. ), web pages saved as HTML files, and more. You can add multiple attachments up to a sum total of 10MB to any email message. If you'd like to be able to send and receive larger messages with attachments, check out Mail Plus.

With Yahoo! Mail Plus, you can send and receive messages up to 20MB in size. http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/basics/basics-41.htmlGood luck!

Sounds to me like what happens when you attempt to attach a folder instead of a file. You mentioned you are trying to send a CD, which typically has multiple tracks thus multiple files. Folders cannot be attached to emails, only files.

If you want to send a whole folder of files, you can use a program like winzip or the built in zipper in WinXP to not only compress, but archive your folder into a single zip file, which can then later be extracted. I just tested this and found that even files without an extension cannot be attached to a yahoo email. Any file that can be attached to an email needs an extension (.doc, .

Txt, . Mp3). Yahoo doesn’t have to know what it is, but it needs a dot something suffix.

You mentioned the following: I go to that file, right click on the file, select send to e mail recipient. That takes me to a box that asks me select a file,I paste that path into the box and select attach, continue composing message. If you right click on a file, it shouldn’t be requiring you to then supply a path to it (since you right clicked on the intendid file, windows is intuitive enough to know you are wanting this specific file emailed, and it knows the path).

Are these files in mp3 or wav format? Or is this a disc image, maybe an iso? Yahoo does have a 10MB size limitation on outgoing emails.

I believe it is bumped up to 20MB when you have sbc yahoo DSL service. I would go the roundabout way of attaching the file. Go into compose and select the option to attach a file to the email.

Browse for the file and attach. Again, not so clear as to how you are attaching an entire CD unless it is in an image type format such as iso, cif, or c2d. You probably are aware of this but the .

Cda files are not audio files, they are just placemarks that identify where each track starts and stops to segregate the entire disc into tracks. Sorry if I’m stating the obvious. Hope this helps your cause!

Select the files You cannot attach a folder. Instead of giving the folders' path, enter the files' path, one by one. Or select them all together, if your e-mail program allows it, and select attach.

Hope that helps. ~ms .

1 Most mail programs have an "atttach a file" feature that you can use to try another way to do this. But it may be too big to send. You might need to send one track at a time.

What program are you using? Outlook? Yahoo?

2 joe I went and used ie7 to launch yahoo then composed mail and in yahoo I attached music from my music and uploaded them and they loaded fine, I know yahoo has a maximum file size allowed but try attaching it using yahoo instead of the way you did try. So use the attach files button in yahoo and then use their browse command to go to the same files you had and then select attach files. The send function usually sends files to other peripherals not to mail programs I wonder could that be it?

GRRRRR! Trying to charge my ipod shuffle and I keep getting this dumb message.

How do you setup mail to have an auto-sig which includes a business-card type of jpg file inserted automatically.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
