Has anyone else noticed their Topic Pages doing much better in Bing than Google? Thoughts? Theories?

I've noticed this too. I think that it's because of the age of the indexes and the authority calculation. In short: Bing has done a really great job of slurping up pages and categorizing them.

Google has been doing this really well for a longer time. Bing's calculation of authority on any one subject is likely a little fresher than Google's and isn't based on as much history. For example, if About.Com has been the authority on "running shoes" for a few years, it _should_ rank higher.

Even with better information, in Google's eye's Mahalo will have a tough time pushing About. Com out of the way.In contrast on Bing, About. Com and Mahalo were indexed at the same time.

Sure, their creation dates and a number of other factors likely play into the calculation but as long as Mahalo's content (writing, linking, photos, video, etc) are better, than it will rank higher.My logic here doesn't work for single pages, only for categories. Single pages where the site has no authority move up and down almost at will... Category authorities however have a bit more clout.

My page on Best Deals onBack to School Suppliescomes first on Bing too. I just checked. I guess, Bing favors mahalo.

To directly answer your question, I have not noticed it. However, thank you very much for asking as I'll definitely be looking into this. I have a Google Docs file with a list of all my pages and their current Google ranking, so it would be great to compare and contrast this with Bing.

Sorry to answer your question with a question, but do you know if Bing has a keyword tool? It would be interesting to see some results from that and compare them with Google's keyword tool.

I think with Bing everyone is on a level playing ground at the moment since it is new. As the pages in the index age, the older pages may have an advantage or not. It will depend on the algorithm they use.

I have found my personal webpages (not my mahalo pages) not doing well in Bing, while ranking 1 or 2 in Google for keywords. But then again I have been optimizing for google because I get about 100x the traffic from them. With Yahoo and Microsoft creating this search engine deal I will have to reconsider that, but I'm not counting on anything yet.

I just tried a few of mine in Bing and every one I looked at does much better on Google! For example my iPhone and Roger Federer pages are on page 3 of Google, but nowhere to be seen in Bing. How to use Paypal page is the the #1 result in Google, but again nowhere to be seen in Bing.It would be interesting to hear explanations of why some things can rank so well in one engine, and not at all on another.

EDIT iPhone 3GS does better in Bing. And that is page that was only created in June.So it may be that older pages have more weight in Google, newer ones in Bing.

Inedexing of google is more depedent of external links . Google ranks those websites which have external links . Where as Bings spiders those which are fresh and has internal links .

Honestly speaking I think bing may have a nice concept by placing some interesting photos on the desk up, but when it comes to search results , I get more accurate find, based on the keywords, sometimes I get unrelated results when I used bing, google has long advantage to bing, but bing is working to close the gap. The reason for this is google is so focus with search engine results.

I'm actually not as impressed as I expected. The bolean search works better on Google. I think it's just the anticipated effect that one sees in the ads.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
