I have been using AVG 7.5 Anti-Virus Free and AVG 7.5 Anti-Spyware Free for several months The AVG Internet Security package also provides spam, phishing, and firewall protection. We decided none of these extras is important for us because: -- our home computers run Windows XP SP2 which has firewall on by default, -- we use Web mail and Earthlink which have good spam filtering -- we do very minimal e-commerce When first installed, the Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware founded a few malware files. They have been updating regularly and automatically since installed.
We don’t test them severely, but they have scored well in independent tests and seem to give us good protection. (My wife found the daily update popups a bit annoying, but they're not hard to get used to; probably the paid suite is more discreet. ) We uninstalled Windows Defender Beta when it went out of beta, because (as I recall) it required installation of WGA (the Windows-phone-home-to-Microsoft business) which we have managed to keep off our machines, in spite of MS’s multiple attempts to get it installed.
Also I recall reading that Windows Defender did not give the best protection; you can see this for Microsoft OneCare in the tests linked above..
Running it right now Have to say, of all the anti-virus solutions I have tried through the years, this is the one I like best. Very unobtrusive, and seems to be doing the job very well (I check over network against our companies "big" viruschecker on a regular basis, I am clean). It updates daily, takes a few moments, and then you don't think about it.
I actually had to check if it was what I was using :DFree too, so what's not to like! Link goes to the free version. Sources: grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php .
Yes we use it I have the AVG soho edition which is for multiple computers and I quite like it. It seems to not hog resources like Norton or McAfee does. When it scans the whole computer is seems to slow other things down minimally.
And my friend had a virus and it found it in the system restore area and prompted him how to disable system restore and then cleaned it up. I have never had a virus here, but I also have a dsl router with a firewall and also run zone alarm pro firewall and I also run Asquaredfree antitrojan software periodically. I do like avg and you can try it for free for 30 days I got so mad at Norton that I searched around and friends told me to try avg.
I did and decided to buy it. At least it doesn't take 5 extra minutes to boot up like norton did and norton has a rootkit that they use ( I think that it was for their protected recycle bin ) and that CNET and others reported it as a vulnerability These are just my opinions, I hope this helps Sources: my experiences with AVG .
Yep, I'd definitely recommend it I've been using it for... hmm... about 5 years now. Probably more. I'm no security expert, but it seems to be as secure as any of the other big name products like Norton and McAfee. In all the time I've been using it I've never had any viruses get past.
They recently upgraded the free version - sometime in February if I'm not mistaken - and discontinued support of the old version, so if you've got an old one lying around you'll need to upgrade. One of the things I like about AVG is it isn't as much of a resource hog as Norton used to be - that's what I had before. Doesn't hurt that it's free either.
Since I'm just one guy, here're some more reviews of AVG. Truth be told, with all the crap that flows through IE these days, having a good anti-spyware tool is even more important than antivirus to me. Take a look at Ad-aware, they're the best.
You can run AVG and Ad-aware in conjunction.
Yes I've been using it regularly with no complaints.

I have a security password for my internet. How do I find out what it is?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
