Has anyone had a problem with the blood pressure medication Labetalol causing an enlarged prostate?

I have never heard of such a side effect - not saying it couldn't happen, but it's definitely not a normal side effect. Labetalol has Alpha-blocking & Beta-blocking properties. Alpha blockers are actually used as treatment to SHRINK the prostate.

So, my thoughts are, it's probably not the medication labetalol causing the enlarged prostate. Supplement combinations of Saw Palmetto, BetaSitosterol and zinc have been shown to have an effect on the prostate - shrinking it. There are supplement pills for the prostate out there that have all 3 of these in them.

Thanks Alissa. My husband has been having a slight problem urinating for the past several weeks, and it coincides with when his doctor changed his blood pressure medications to Norvasc and Labetalol. Obviously, he's going to have to take this up with his doctor.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
