I saw it and was very disappointed. I thought the whole thing was both far fetched and a let down for the franchise. If you click on the source link below, you'll see that most critics disliked it almost as much as I did.
The Terminator franchise is (or at least was) about frail humans running for their lives and fleeing a superior attacker until they have no choice but fight. They are basically chase movies. This film lacked that, and was instead just a bad war movie with lots of close up CGI effects and a Skynet that was far too stupid to have taken over the world in the first place.
*SPOILERS* The robo-eels, giant robot, terminator motorcycles all felt contrived, as if a 7 year old was put in charge of designing Skynet assets. I can hear a high childish voice saying "wouldn't it be cool if there were terminator eels and if they didn't have any weapons and if they wrestled people like in WWE? " or "Giant robots are cool!
Let's make a giant terminator that looks really cool, but give it really bad aim and make it stupid so that the humans can still beat it! That could be cool!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
