In my view, Rick Perry is a good candidate for the Republican nomination because he has an eleven year record as Governor of Texas, so he has experience. Texas has been a job-creating state, which is what we need - job creation. Texas passed tort reform, making it so lawyers cannot sue hospitals and such without paying court and lawyer fees if they lose (whereas before they could sue and not have to pick up the tab if they lost).
Perry is a good states' rights, small government, fiscal responsibility candidate. Now, and this is important, what a lot of people are neglecting is how electable a candidate might be. Mitt Romney, even though he looks Presidential, cannot win the nomination in my opinon.
Because of RomneyCare, Republicans cannot view Romney as a genuine conservative. In order to gain Republican credibility, Romney would have to apologize for RomneyCare. If he does that, liberals will call him a flip-flopper.
Either way, he shot himself in the foot with RomneyCare. He may have believed it was good for Massachusetts, and it may have been, I don't know, but it ended his Presidential aspirations. Michelle Bachman - I love her to death.
I think she is youthful, intelligent, and a fighter. However, she has also been shooting herself in the foot. With this talk about the hurricane being a message from God, she is now seen in the eyes of many as a religious nut.
While I would still support her regardless, I think she only hurts herself saying things like that. As much as I like her, I think she would have troubles running a national campaign. I think she would do great in a debate against Obama, but I am increasingly thinking she is not an electable candidate for President.
She would still make a great VP pick however. I could go into the other candidates, but you get the idea. I think, of all the candidates, Rick Perry still has the makeup of a good Republican candidate.
He is 1) religious 2) conservative 3) executive experience 4) created jobs I think a Rick Perry / Michelle Bachman, Paul Ryan or Marco Rubio ticket would be very strong.
He stands for whatever will get him votes, like most politicians. I personally will not vote for a candidate who uses god and prayer to get the gullible vote. But, people vote for candidates for a lot of reasons as is their prerogative.
Some people will like Ricky's ah shucks, hee haw, cowboy boots and hat. As a Texan, there is no way I would vote for him.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
