Has our desire for more stuff cost us the innocence of our children?

I agree with you, there is an increased flood of media in children's lives. Parents very often seem not aware of how much their kids are under influence of trendy shows and programs. I was recently appalled by a 7 year old girl talking about her birthday theme party being Hannah Montana.

I don't think it is a show for a 7 year old and she was snobby and bragging about it in a way that I found vulgar and distasteful. Children are left in front of TVs and other media instead of being parented.

I can see your point Ken but most of the parents I know have managed to raise their kids to be respectful and, even though they are exposed to this kind of thing to a limited extent, they manage to keep most of it away from them for as long as possible. That is really what the tv watershed is trying to stop and as long as they don't get to see 18 rated films and are in a good environment when they are being brought up then I think the damage can be limited to a large extent. Yes, I think innocence is lost a bit younger than it was before but we have to deal with this stuff as best we can.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
