Has science done more harm than good to humanity?

No. Science give us means. It is people that decide what to do with it.

Take boiling water. You can cook an egg or torture a person. That is your choice.

Knowing how to boil water is the science of it all. If we did not have science, we would have some other way to get into trouble. Like over eating.

Science is a tool like firearms are a tool: the problem is not the tool but the human beings using it for good or misusing it for evil. Fact is, those two nuclear bombs on roshima and Nagasaki saved about a million U.S. Lives and about a million Japanese lives by forcing the emperor to push thru surrender while all the generals around him were still angling for more war. I think he knew Tokyo was next.

But my point is that the subsequent misuse in nuclear posturing over the Cold War should be seen in the light of the initial use. A gun can obtain game for dinner, protect a home from an evil person, or kill an innocent person. Quantum physics can explain our place in the universe or form the basis for goofy and deceptive religions.

Instead, we are warned, "O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called" (1 Timothy 6:20).

Benefits of science: Doubled life expectancy from 35 to 70+Cut child mortality rate from 50% to less than 15% (considering 3rd world)Less than 20% of the population has to be farmers, versus 95% for most of history, and those who farm don't have back breaking work dawn to dusk just to eat .

Well let's see. People used to die on the average in their mid thirties because of disease. Scientific contribution to medical research alone outweighs any disadvantage.

Medicines and life saving technologies have allowed humans to live longer, healthier lives. How could we learn about our environment or space without science? How could we make any progress towards understanding the ways our minds and bodies work without science?

Times when humanity didn't enjoy scientific contributions were not better than the times we live in now. People lived in primitive conditions. That didn't stop them from warring with one another.

Getting around in horse and buggies wasn't the most comfortable or opportune method either. No video, no phones, no radio, no radar, no exploration. We know the down side is misuse of technology.

That is human error, not scientific error. Human error exists with or without science. No, science had not done more harm than good.

All you have to do is see how science has created almost everything you use, the meds you take, the car you drive, the means by which we keep our food fresh, the means by which we regulate food. The clothes you wear, that air conditioning in the summer and the furnace in the winter? It goes on and on.

Would be rather be living as the Neanderthalls did? Unsanitary conditions, killing your own food, making your own clothes, and dying from the common cold? To deny science is to deny all of the progress that allows humanity to understand its potential.

"Science" is the Greek word for knowledge. We are warned, "O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called" (1 Timothy 6:20). That is, beware of things humans call "knowledge" but isn't; it's actually propaganda.

There are the facts and there is what human beings do with those facts.

Without it you wouldn't have a computer to ask this on. Matter of fact, you'd be sitting in a cave wearing animal skins and deciding what to kill for dinner. You should think things through.

Then you wouldn't have to ask a question like this.

If anything, science has served to debunk age old superstitions and naysayers who refuse to believe the reality around them.

The answer is (again! ) that "science" does nothing. PEOPLE do harm (or not) according to that bizarre combination of what they know and what they want.Do.

Science is doing more harm than good. " "How has science caused more harm than good" "science has done more harm than good" "Is psychology really a science? " "has science and technology really done more good than harm" "science website" "Science Digest" "tell me the harm things that science are done" "has science done more harm than good to humanity" "science vs. God!

How has science caused more harm than good.

Has science and technology really done more good than harm.

Tell me the harm things that science are done.

Has science done more harm than good to humanity.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
