I have this pain that comes and goes and it is just a little bit right of mid line, beneath the rib cage. Yesterday was really bad. I almost cried myself to sleep.
Today, it is not hurting much at all. Is this something that can get better on it's own if I stay away from spicy and fried foods? Will it have to be removed?
I worry about this because my father's gall bladder went bad and he ignored it. When he finally had to seek treatment they found a tumor on his liver, and of course he died. Any advice would be appreciated.

Please get a checkup soon: Any condition that is ignored may result in worse consequences. A persistent pain in certain locations is a message from your body that something needs to be attended to. Most likely you have been getting messages that you probably ignored or was not aware of.
Most of my organs are in great shape and the only thing I get (aside from some creeping in arthritis) is a mild discomfort on my left side which is usually a warning that loose bowel movement is on the way from too much coffee or too much beer the previous night. ON A MAJOR ISSUE: MY HEART! My Mom died when she was 34 from the heart. My Grandmother (Mom's,Mom) lived until her 90s with a troubling heart.
I too have been living since childhood with an on and off troubling heart. When I was about 5 or 6 adults noticed something wrong with me and rushed me to a doctor and diagnosed me with irregular cardiac palpitations. I was immediately taken to a children's hospital for observation which came up with nothing.
So from then on I promised myself I would never tell anyone if I felt bad because I was very, very active and loved the outside and did not want to be forced to be inactive. When I lived in N.Y.In the early 60s my father and stepmother took us to Coney Island and we went swimming in the ocean. I went very deep (I was a great swimmer) but not as deep as my Dad and when I tried to swim towards shore I felt an undertow trying to take me to the deep.
At first I had panicky thoughts and realized the lifeguard would not get to me on time and probably could not even see me so it was up to me. I swam and swam towards shore and each time I slowed to rest I felt like for every foot gained I lost two feet. I decided to swim diagonally instead of straight to the shore and found less resistance and I made it without stopping.
Needless to say I was out of breath and with every deep gasp of intake I felt a deep pain from deep within my chest. I knew it was my heart. I kept walking and taking shorter deep breaths until everything returned to normal.
In gh School I would get dizzy spells every now and then. I been through the USMC for 3 years through different jobs and in all my physicals nothing about my heart has been ever ditected. I don't want bypass and operations.
I am 59 yrs. Old soon to be 60,and very seldom does my heart ever talk to me. I have told my oldest son in case of heredity so he can do something if he wants to for himself.
NOW I told you all this for this reason. In my case the heart is faulty, but I have been able to live with it and will probably be as my Grandmother,BUT and this is a BIG BUT! If I suspected my liver, gal bladder,or lungs of anything I WOULD GO TO THE DOCTOR.
These organs perform duties in cleansing blood and supply oxygen to the heart and brain and the rest of your body,so please GET A CHECKUP at least to be sure it is nothing serious. There used to be a commercial for car oil in which nthe catch phrase said "Pay me now or pay me later". Sources: Personal opinion :) .
Gall bladder pain Good heavens, go to the doctor! Let's start by assuming that this is, in fact, your gall bladder that hurts. Your pain is in the right place for it, and pain from gallstones can come and go, and get very severe. To answer your questions, no, it's very doubtful that it would get better on its own.
Gall bladder attacks are caused by the presence of gallstones. See, bile is stored in your gall bladder until it's needed to aid digestion. It has several components, any of which can precipitate out of the liquid bile into globs or nodules. When they're small, and if they stay small, some people can go their whole lives without ever knowing they're there.
But if they get too big, they cause problems. Staying away from spicy and fatty foods can keep the symptoms at bay, but it won't solve the problem. The gallstones will still be there.
Will it have to be removed? That's the usual treatment. It's actually a very common and fairly simple surgery with a quick recovery time, and isn't the big deal that it used to be.
It's almost always done laparoscopically and that's a definite advantage - healing time is reduced and there's very little scarring. Once you've healed, your lifestyle will almost certainly go back to normal. There's also a medical treatment for certain types of gallstones: a drug called ursodiol.
Ursodiol can dissolve stones that are composed of cholesterol (which something like 85% of gallstones are). It does have some heavy side effects, though, and doesn't prevent recurrence, so surgery is still the treatment of choice. So if you've really got gallstones, you can see that it's in your best interest to get to a doctor quickly for an ultrasound or a CT scan.
Waiting won't make things better, and could cause problems down the road, so it's better to get it over with. Incidentally, if you show symptoms of jaundice - a yellowish tinge to your eyes and/or skin - go to the doctor immediately...the decision will have just been made for you. If you can't get in, go to the emergency room.
Seriously.Now. If that didn't convince you, consider the possibility that you're wrong about it being your gall bladder. What if you have a problem with your liver?
Or there's something else altogether wrong? What if it's serious enough that a delay could be costly in all sorts of ways? Gallstone diagnosis is easy and painless - it's just an ultrasound or a CT scan - and the results will get you on the road to recovery no matter what the diagnosis ends up being.

Sounds a bit like what my daughter went thru. Not me, but my youngest daughter had a gallstone at 16, which is why our first visit had the Dr. Doofus handing me a bottle of Kaopectate after waiting until 3:00 a.m. If I'd been more lucid, I'd have thrown the thing across the room and demanded he get an X-Ray or MRI or something. No, they did no scopes because 16 year olds can't get gallstones.
A month later and my daughter has a 13-day stay that their best guy can't deal with because they screwed around a month earlier. But the pain was something else: my normally stable daughter would be collapsed to the floor in agony, and then nothing (which was why Dr. Doofus thought it was gas.) If it is gallstones, it does not get better on its own as the thing has a ways to go before exiting. Get an X-Ray to see for sure.
Two kind of Gall Bladder issues exist. Diseases or stones. Spicy Food and greasy food affect the diseased type of gall bladder.
Stones are more likely to cause pain. If you are having pain that bad and are not getting to a doc or and ER I will pray that you do. If it is that inflamed and bursts and peritonitis sets in you will be in a world of hurt and jeopardize your life!.
1 See a doctor. My mother had similar issues. She recently had her gall bladder removed. It was done lapriscopically, so she didn't have to spend the night in the hospital.
I'm not suggesting that your problem is a gall bladder issue, let alone that you require surgery. I'm not a doctor. Still, it makes sense to see a doctor to check it out.
It could just be gas.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
