No, the guy is clearly a bully and like a lot of bullies he likes to play it safe by picking on someone who he is pretty sure by nature or size that he dominate. If he chooses to behave like that, the day will come where he picks on someone more capable than him and he will get a hard well needed lesson. You have nothing to be embarrassed about.
