Yes, once while in Ireland, I volunteered to help with the potato harvest to have a sore back for several days afterwards.
Not exactly volunteering. Right after the big earthquake in Chengdu (2008) I bought up all of the water we could find, it was about 15 cases. The next few days at the place where a large number of people gathered we handed out water to the elderly and the very young.
We also bought food and handed out soup and bread along with fruit. But that is just the Chinese way of doing things so I really wouldn't call it volunteering.
Yes, I worked with a Christian Mission to help paint a schoolhouse in Haiti. Very rewarding experience.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
