WHEW... what a stinky problem~Funny.. I just saw this on MythBusters.... The guys tested several home remedies to remove the funk of the skunk..... 1. Tomato juice DID work to remove the smell... however, they did smell a little Bloody Mary-ish afterwards.. 2.Beer..did NOT work to remove odo de skunko 3. A mixture of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and soap worked the best to remove the smell and didn’t have an "after smell."Unfortunatley I don’t know the amount of parts to mix.... The guys tested the products on themselves... and the soap might dry your dogs coat of its natural oils... maybe use Dove?

I would call the vet and ask them for their recommendations.. and ask about the hy perox, soap, baking soda mixture, just to be on the safe side! Visit this site to see more.. it originally aired September 2004, but my son and I just watched it this past Monday... mythbustersresults.com/episode16 My beagle-child escaped and found some nearby cowpies to roll in and I asked a similiar question.... these are the answers I recieved..... askville.amazon.com/askville/OpenQuestio... Until then, I guess you all are wearing clothespins on your noses! Good luck!

Been there; done that unfortunately Get a LOT of baking soda. Take the dog outside and rub the baking soda into his fur. He will shake it off, and then you will put more on.

Baking soda is a natural deodorizer and works well on the skunk oil spray. This helps, but to get the best results you will need to bathe him. The first time Pinky (my avatar) got skunked, I put her in the tub and looked for tomato juice.

We didn't have any, but I found tomato sauce and ketchup, so I used that. Poor baby turned orange and still smelled like a skunk! Went out and bought Natures Miracle Skunk Odor Remover.

Worked pretty well and now I keep this one on hand. However, I have noticed that the smell goes away until the dog gets wet (from the rain or something) and then there is that blasted skunk smell. Last year both my dogs got skunked at once and I ran out of the Natures Miracle Skunk stuff, so I made this concoction that worked pretty well: 1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide 1/4 cup baking soda 1 teaspoon liquid soap Mix together and use immediately on teh affected areas.

Try not to use on whole body because teh skunk spray is an oil & you don't want the oil to go top the unaffected parts of your dog. You will need to do this several times until the smell is nearly gone. Do not store in a closed lid container, toss out what you don't use because this mixture can explode in a sealed bottle or container.

Still, I recommend the Natures Miracle Skunk Odor Remover. There are foam shampoos and the shampoo wipes that yo can put on your dog, but they do not get the skunk smell out. Instead you have a skunky & perfumey dog--ick!

There are chemicals, but... Ah, the joys of pet ownership. You may be stuck with it. There are several chemicals out there that are quite effective at removing skunk smell.

Unfortunately, they're rather toxic and you can't use them on your dog's face or muzzle. Also unfortunately, 90% of the time, a dog will get sprayed directly in the face. If you happen to have gotten lucky and he got sprayed elsewhere, run out and buy some strong anti-skunk chemicals. So, blatantly stolen from eHow, here are the basic steps to take: 1.

Take care of his eyes -- if your skunk got sprayed in the eyes, it likely still hurts. There are eye drops for skunk smell, and apparently olive oil might be effective at relieving the sting, too.2. Keep the dog outside -- It'll eventually wear off, but if the dog stays indoors, you house will end up smelling like skunk.

3. Wash the dog (with gloves) with normal dog shampoo. Vigorously.

4. This is weird. I have no idea how good of an idea this is.

But I read it on the Internet and everything on the Internet is true. Coat your dog thoroughly in tomato juice and allow it to set for 10-20 minutes. Why, I don't know.

Does it work? I don't know. Will your dog eat the tomato juice off?

Yes. Good luck! Remember to wear gloves!

Old School: Rub tomato juice into the fur Years ago, my dog got sprayed too. My mom told me to rub tomato juice into his fur. All we had was stewed tomatoes but it worked!

He smelled a bit sour after but the skunk smell was gone.

Well you MUST bathe him. Start with peroxide, baking soda and dish soap briansplace.ynt1.com/skunk.php" rel="nofollow">briansplace.ynt1.com/skunk.php Sources: briansplace.ynt1.com/skunk.php" rel="nofollow">briansplace.ynt1.com/skunk.php .

This is for anyone looking for an answer from someone who has had this happen to them recently ;)... My Maggie (55lb mixed breed dog) got sprayed by a skunk last night. The smell was awful and it is not the same thing you get a whiff of driving down the road. It smells like crude chemicals burning.Literally.

After several baths in doggie shampoo and a vinegar marinade, the smell was still horrific. So, I took a dog lead and secured my dog to the faucet knob in the bathtub (so she wouldn't jump out and rub her skunkiness all over the house) and I ran to the internet to find out what I should do.Ok.So I read to sniff out the dog (ugh! ) and identify where the odor is - the exact place of the skunk's spray.

It was on her snout between her eye bridge and the end of her nose. I grabbed some baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and dawn dish liquid and headed back to ground zero. I first applied the baking soda to the area (carefully not to get any in her nose or eyes) and let that sit for a few minutes.

I actually applied a couple of coats. Then I took a handful of hydrogen peroxide and mixed that all in and a drop of Dawn to boot. I repeated this three more times and whala!

No more skunky Maggie.Yay. The smell was still permeating throughout the house so I of course sprayed some Fabreeze and I opened the doors and windows and aired out the house the rest of the night. Today, I left all of the windows opened and screens exposed to all of the doors, lit some candles placed in very safe places and headed to work.

When I got home tonight, I could barely notice a smell. I'm hoping this will continue to get better until the lingering odor finally dissipates. Good luck.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
