Yes, you should definitely write about what you know. But you should also write you hubs like magazine articles. If you don't know how to do that, then pick up some slicks and learn.
Whatever you do, don't write every story as if it were an editorial. And don't just produce fiction or poetry, because there's so much of that on the Internet, people get bored real fast. After all, let's face it, much of the fiction and poetry on the Internet is crap.Do your research and write something that people can use and/or inspires them.
