Hot water in bathtub is pouring out the spout, the faucet is off. cartridge seems ok. no leak in pipe?

Hot water in bathtub is pouring out the spout, the faucet is off. Cartridge seems ok. No leak in pipe.

I checked the cartridge and both o-rings are intact. The metal control valve pulled out of the cartridge assembly. Do I need to change whole cartridge or is something to do with my spout?

It may be with the spout/control. It sounds like a piece has broken, and even though the handle has been turned to off, the internals were broken and the actual control was not moved to the off position. Try replacing your faucet/handle first.

If that fails, move to the next stop of replacements. Sources: my opinion.

2 I found out that there was an extention piece still inside hot water pipe that had been cracked and came off stem. That was why there was water still pouring out spicket. I hope this helps anyone else .

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
