How can breast augmentation surgery affect nipple sensation?

Nipple sensation after breast augmentation surgery should be normal, but may be decreased or absent. I have had many women whose nipples were overly sensitive after surgery, probably because the nipples were forced forward and rubbed on their clothing. These women wore Band-Aids over their nipples for months; the problem eventually disappeared.
