How can I find out the name of a song that plays on a TV episode? The credits never list the songs like movie credits?

The credits never list the songs like movie credits. Movies have the songs listed at the end in the credits, but random songs on TV episodes don't seem to have these credits listed anywhere. Also, I read somewhere that you can call a certain phone number and play a part of a song and you can get the name that way but I don't know how to do this (what is the phone number and does this service cost?
