My cat does this sometimes, too. I think I've noticed that he seems to do it more when he has a hairball. The best ways to prevent it then, are to keep all the paper and plastic out of the cats reach, and to give a hairball remedy if it's needed.

Thanks...mine seems to do it all the time...whenever she sees any paper, she'll even climb onto the coffee table to grab any on there. It's like she smells paper anywhere, even in closed boxes (she dug in one and ate some important papers I had) and she loves digging through the bathroom trash. UGH!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
