How can I stop getting sick playing certain video games?

Certain video games make me sick. I like the games, but I get a headache/nausea when I play.It is usually on the games that are first person and have close walls/environments. I heard this was a form of motion sickness.

How can I fix this? Asked by stenton999 53 months ago Similar questions: stop sick playing video games Health.

Try some motion sickness remedies! The store-bought stuff can make you quite drowsy, so try ginger pills, available at health-food stores. The Chinese have used it for centuries to quell seasickness!

For regular nausea, sometimes Soda Crackers (Saltines) work. When women are pregnant, this is a home remedy that they use for nausea. You might not feel like eating, but if the ginger doesn't work, give it a try.

There is no cure, but... Just as you can't cure motion sickness, there is no cure for "simulator sickness", the illness you are describing. It is actually fairly common among military pilots using electronic simulators, as well as Quake players. Your options are: --Try a different camera angle, see if it helps (sometimes the "first person" viewpoint can be a little too realistic) --Try other types of games where you aren't so "boxed in" as you are in FPS --Use motion sickness/headache/nausea treatments.

Ginger and/or peppermint (capsules, candied or tea) help nausea and are fairly benign. If they don't help, talk to your doctor about other over the counter (i.e. Bonine) or prescription medications that may help.

If he/she doesn't believe in simulator sickness, tell them there are plenty of studies in the clinical literature, and have been for years. Someone else mentioned the motion sickness wristbands, which depend upon an accupressure point. We've not found them too helpful (my husband gets terrible migraines with nausea), but he got one of the electronic versions (Relief Band) recently approved by the FDA, and finds it works very well.

Amazon doesn't carry them, but Drugstore. Com does. It isn't the cheapest fix (about $80), but it does work fairly well, and is reusable.

A friend undergoing chemotherapy also has one, and said it helped him too. Relief Band packages them for different uses -- motion sickness, morning sickness, etc -- but they're all the same band. It is worth noting that if you develop other problems while playing games, specifically seizures, talk to your doc at once.

Occasionally video games can trigger seizures which can be caused by epilepsy. Dramamine. It is a form of motion sickness, specifically "simulator sickness". You should be able to prevent it by taking Dramamine an hour before playing, or any other motion sickness remedy.

Ginger is also reported to work, and might be a better option, since it won't make you drowsy (although there are less-drowsy pills like Dramamine II). You could also try opening a window to get some fresh air, turning the lights up, or adjusting your distance from the screen. Sources: ask.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/03/13... I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
