How can I validate that an attribute is not empty if present in a DTD?

There is no way using an XML DTD to validate that if an attribute is present it must not be empty.

There is no way using an XML DTD to validate that if an attribute is present it must not be empty. Here are your options: You can set a default value. For example preprocessFile CDATA "novalueprovided" You can allow it to be abscent (see your example above).

In either case, you can enforce "abscent or not empty if present" in your XML parsing code.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
