How can stem cell therapies help restore nerves damage resulting from spinal cord injuries?

Whenever a spine is injured it loses some nerve cells. If people are given stem cell injection like there is a chance that people will recover from their injuries which is very similar to the rats in the link below. After a period of time stem cells will disappear and there will be a new growth of nerve cells.
