The silk arrangement is simpler to make than the live arrangement. Choose your container and purchase a firm base. This base is generally styrofoam which holds the wire stems in place.
Gather your supplies: pliers, heavy sissors or wirecutters, container, base, flowers, something to hold your base in the container. Generally, the base is glued into the container, but it can be secured by florist's tape or poster putty Since the flowers are made with wire, they make smaller holes in the styrofoam. Select your favorite flower and put it in the center of the foam.
This is your line flower. The line flower is the one that your eye catches when you look at the arrangement. From this flower (the focal point), the rest of the arrangement is made.
Place another flower about half-way between the line flower and the container pointing to yourself. Do this with the focal flowers on either side. At this point you will have four flowers in front of you.
If this arrangement is to be a centerpiece, then you need to do it on the other side as well Now that you have your line flowers in place, fill in with lesser flowers. For instance, you have carnations as line flowers, you fill in the blank space with daisies. Add accent blooms such as tiny spray roses, then put in the greenery.
Take your time because (1) you have to live with this for a while and (2) the product does not die, so you can rearrange to suit yourself Study pictures of arrangement that you like. You can copy them in silks for yourself. Simply bring the picture to the silk display and select the flowers to use.
One suggestion is to keep your colors to two colors for the blooms. This make the arrangement less distracting and more pleasing to the eye Finally, practice, practice, practice. If you don't like the arrangement, redo it!
The foam will take re-placement several times before it breaks down. Have fun with your silks and bend and shape to suit yourself.
