How can you write about Willa Sibert Cather's quotation There are some things you learn best in calm and some in storm?

Will Sibert Cather born December 7, 1873, in Gore, VA, and died April 24, 1947, in Manhattan, New York City, NY, was an American author. She wrote novels about pioneer life. The full quotation is: "I keep my mind on it.

That's the whole trick, in so far as stage experience goes; keeping right there every second. If I think of anything else for a flash, I'm gone, done for. But at the same time, one can take things in — with another part of your brain, maybe.

It's different from what you get in study, more practical and conclusive. There are some things you learn best in calm, and some in storm. You learn the delivery of a part only before an audience."Thea, in Part VI, Ch.

7, from The Song of the Lark (1915)There are some things you learn best in calm, and some in storm. When you consider this quote, think about things you've learned in life. Even kids and teenagers learn just from living.

For example, think about one of your friendships, when things were going well between you, versus when you two had a fight. Perhaps during the calm time, you learned that friends are steadfast and committed to caring about you. But then, your friend made a comment that you were too wishy-washy.

You felt hurt, even though you knew it was true about how you act sometimes. But because it hurt, you and your friend had cross words. Now you aren't talking.

However, as you think about the fight, you realize your friend only told you because you hurt her a few weeks ago when you pointed out one of her flaws. You still care, and think she still cares about you, but in this storm of arguing then silence, you learn about the small things that can betray a friendship. The wonderful thing about responding to a quote is no one can be inside your mind and heart to tell you HOW to write what YOU think.

Maybe you have a better example than I gave above. You have a unique story, just waiting for you to tell it. Think about what the quote means--to you.

Write about the first example that came to your mind from your experiences.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
