Unfortunately I can't give you a professional answer as I'm not involved in the medical community but I can tell you my personal experience. I was diagnosed with adult ADD when I was 29 and prescribed adderall. I've always been thin but was going through a very stressful time when diagnosed.
At that appointment I weighed about 101. I'm a little over 5'5. After about six months of taking it I dropped all the way down to 83 pounds.
It honestly terrified me. I wouldn't even go near my scale but at my next doctors apt he gave me something to help....I guess "fill out". It took about a year to get up to a healthy weight again.
Even at 101 I was too thin. My normal weight at that time was about 108. Anyway I can safely say I have now surpassed all the above numbers!
:) I do think your body has to adjust to the med's. If you start losing so much weight that you are becoming unhealthy ask your doctor to get you on something that will help you gain weight. If he won't - switch docs immediately!
We talk a lot obesity in this country but you don't hear as much about being underweight. I had gotten so thin and so unhealthy that at 30 years old I actually stopped menstruating. I think adderall is a great drug and it has helped countless people but you do need to be closely monitored for the at least the first year.
Hope this helps!
One of the known side effects of Adderall is decreased appetite. Combined with the stimulant effects, some weight loss isn't suprising. You didn't mention how much weight you've lost, or over what time period.
A couple pounds a week isn't anything to be alarmed about, but if we're talking about 20 pounds in a month, there may be cause for concern. They key is whether or not you're losing muscle mass. Consuming body fat is not a problem, consuming muscle tissue is.
Chances are if your doctor isn't concerned, you don't need to be either.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
