When God called Abraham to come out of Ur, Abraham obeyed and respected God's calling. He went into a land he did not know and where he did not know anyone.
He showed loyalty and faithfulness to God by believing in m though his culture really doesn't support that belief. He also continued to be loyal to m even when it took so long before God's promise to him of having his own son was fulfilled. And when he was tested and asked to offer up his only son Isaac, he showed his loyalty and faith to God by doing as he was told.
In Abraham's journey of faith, he never left or turned his back on God. For me, that is true loyalty and respect towards God.
Without hesitation Abraham in obedience to God took his son into the mountains to a place chosen by God and in Faith and love for God offered to sacrifice s ony son by killing him as God asked.
He chose one of the many gods available to him as an exclusive relationship. After all, he was well trained in the gods of Ur of the ancient Sumerians and of his father.
Abraham was one of the most intelligent humans in our history. He is regarded as the founder of monotheism. He & his contemporary followers created the biggest mind game of all times.
He is the creator of GOD & certainly he respected what he created as he believed that this unifying unmaterialisic ideology would ascend human mind to a higher ground. We never had such a great philosopher in the last 4-5 thousand years.
