Yes it is self defense. That child is a hero in my eyes. He probably shouldn't have been home alone, but that is a reality in our communities.

The national age recommendation for a child to be home without adult supervision is 12. However, this varies from state to state. In Missouri where this took place there is not age limit.

So it was legal for him to home babysitting. He did the right thing. He shot one.

That can be hard on any person. Edit: In Missouri a child as long as there is an adult with them can shoot at the range. There is no age limit for children using a gun in self defense.

Edit 2: There are now apparently witnesses that say there was never a break in. There was no forced entry. One witness said the kid asked the other person to come closer and when they got there he shot him point blank.

But the physical evidence says the shooting did take place in the home. Now I have to wait until more information on this is made known. I don't know what to believe about it right now.
