Well, it happened like that: Juliettes masseur Suman once asked Juliette about her interest in dance. Juliette was in London and fortunately I was there, too, for my show. Sumans husband Farooq Chaudhry is my producer.
So she introduced my show to Juliette and then we decided to meet. Were you given easy access to what you were trying to find during the project? What we had in our minds was actually emptiness.
It was the beginning. We were initially speaking about the concept of angels and that progressed to the concept of human being and questions of love. It is really about a journey, you know.
I think we never got what we want, but we got a part of what we wanted. And this is what we achieved: asking questions about two individuals, who come from different background and different culture, about the conflicts, about things that bring them together. Has it been a natural transition for you to explore new sections of art through this show?
It is never natural! It has to be always ... more.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
