Part of becoming an interior designer is possessing the skills and education needed to do the job well. Combine this with business acumen and you possess the skills needed to become a freelance interior designer. However, this is only part of the equation.
When you choose to become a freelancer, you must develop a clientele. Many freelancers get their work by word of mouth, so if you’re just beginning you need to build a client base. Sometimes you may have to do some free work in order to show potential clients what your capabilities are.
You don’t necessarily have to give up free work to strangers though. You can do small jobs for friends, family, etc. And take photos of your designs for your portfolio. Another idea is to work for a company while they build their clientele, and do projects on the side.
This is a smart way of maintaining an income while building your own business.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
