I've been told that my resume that took me forever to do now needs to be converted to a format used by employer search engines. Can anyone help me to do this and in plain terms. Don't worry, your efforts have not been in vain... You will need your Word doc resume to send out to people directly, so it isn't a waste of time. As for the employer search engines, unless there is something I am missing, what is being suggested is that you add keywords to your current resume. There are certain words and phrases that employer search engines look for when they troll resumes online.
For example, I'm a recruiter so the keywords for the position I might be looking for are "interviewing, hiring, sourcing, negotiation, direct sourcing, cold-calling, closing" and so on. You only need to figure out the keywords for the job you are looking for, then add them in a "keywords" section at the end of the resume. As an example, mine would look like this: "Keywords - interviewing, hiring, sourcing, negotiation, direct sourcing, cold-calling, closing" Now some people think that is too direct, and they advise finding out what the keywords are and simply sprinkling them in the resume so you make sure your resume contains the keywords.

Notepad.... I had to do convert mine recently for my companies internal system. This was the third time I have done this in less than two years. My best suggestion for you is to open your resume in Word.
Open a blank notepad session. Copy all from the Word session, and paste into the Notepad session. From here it is going to look like garbage, but this is what basically the web search engines uses.
Take the version that you have in Notepad and add spaces, and tabs to make the format easier to read. This will not make it 100% compatible with every different site that you use, but it will help to speed up the process of copying and pasting it into their boxes. Another suggestion is to keep a detailed typed lists of all the the answers to your skills.
When you go on Monster for instance you will be asked to individually enter all of your skills for easier searching. The reason to keep a separate list is so that when you go to another site you already have the answers and do not need to re-think about it. Best of luck with the job hunt.

Pdf converter program when I send stuff to someone, I don't like to send them a word file, because I never know what version of word they are using, and if they will be able to open it. I went to the local best buy and bought a pdf converter program. It wasn't very expensive, but it converts all word files in to pdf.
That way, unless the user has a full version of acrobat (most people don't, but some do) they won't be able to make any changes to the document.... Sources: personal experience .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
