I understand completely. I do not know about the "Harvard" and "Yale" kind of schools, but I do know that a community college is a very good starting point. I know a guy that completed 9 years of school, he quit in the 10th right before he turned 17.
His actual 17th birthday was when he stepped on the bus to go to AFES. He could not have enlisted any sooner. Back then during Vietnam, any male that could pass the physical was welcome, it didn't take a lot of education to fight.
He got his GED in the military, and got out after 3 years, the same year (like 6 months) after his old class graduated. He was like you, crappy jobs and going no where. He lived in his car.
He had no other choice in life, back in those days the child protection was just about nil. A rotten abusive home that he had to leave. The ONLY door available was the military.
Great pain before, during and after his honorable discharge with the rank of corporal. He applied at a State college. In the application, he mentioned he went to the school of hard knocks.
He had learned. They accepted him on probation. He got almost a straight A average.
He entered college with less then a 6 grade aptitude. But being a Vet, and having the GI Bill.... they took him,. Schools DO have to get revenue.
He had to go to every help workshop there was. Math, English and all. He busted his rear end, he worked his tail off.
So, once you experience the down side of life, look up. Up is the ONLY direction you can go. Good luck .
Assuming this is a serious question, trade school. At a trade school they don't care how you did in high school. Oh, and they usually have very few general education courses.
You know, the courses that do nothing but cost you money while teaching you useless knowledge thatacademice academic community thinks is important.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
