How do I get my cat to learn that she has an automatic food dish and doesn't need to meow at me to feed her?

Oh good question I guess one way is to make sure that you don't reinforce her behavior when she meows at her feet. If she meows and then you pick her up and put her at her food bowl she'll probably think that's what made the food magically appear. If anything I'd say just make it easy as possible for her to discover the food dispenser.

Food is a great motivator. It may take some time but as long as you help make it clear that the only way she'll get food is by activating the thing that disperses the food she'll catch on. By the way, what do you use as an automatic food dispenser?

You might have to leave for a while. Kitty is hungry. Kitty sees Mommy, meows.
