Burn more calories than you consume That's the formula, but there are a lot of ways to go about it, including stupid fad diets and drugs that might not be so healthy. In my opinion, the healthiest thing to do (after consulting with a doctor to make sure you're healthy otherwise) is to find easy ways to consume fewer calories while increasing your exercise just a little bit. Slow weight loss is easier to live with, and easier to maintain.As for the food, if you're eating a relatively healthy diet, but just eating too much, cut down on portion sizes.

If you've got bad eating habits (eating late at night while watching TV, eating too many sweets, etc. ) then wean yourself off of those habits. Instead of eating a bag of chips at night, have some veggies ready to snack on, or make popcorn or find something else that you enjoy, but that is lower in calories. If your diet is unhealthy, fix it.

Substitute lower calorie foods for higher calorie foods where it makes sense to do so, increase your fiber intake, and cut down on portions of things that are high in calorie and are special treats for you. For example, instead of eating fries, eat a baked potato. Eat buffalo instead of beef.

Exercise :) the best thing you can do is to exercise as it will also speed up your metabolism and you can eat a little more. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
