The best answer is to open the regular Word document in OpenOffice/NeoOffice, then use the SAVE AS... from the FILE menu, then change the FORMAT in the window where you save your work to change it to the template format. More.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
